V&A Enterprises is the business face of the V&A. Our activities are many and various, from publishing, product design and licensing to digital development and film. All our profits are returned to the V&A, helping to maintain its position as the world's leading museum of art and design, and funding exhibitions, research, and collecting for the future.
There are four different profit streams by which we bring in revenue: Retail, Publishing, Licensing, and Digital. The company is organised into eight departments, designed to link and support all four streams. The structure allows for flexibility and collaboration in the way we approach projects, and a joined-up approach to all our partnerships. Each function contributes to the whole, playing its part in the overall business of building both reputation and income for the V&A.

The V&A brand is recognised internationally as an endorsement of the best in design. The brand licensing team sells and manages the rights to use the V&A brand and/or archives in a commercial context, working with manufacturing and retail partners across the world. Beyond Europe, the USA and Japan are particularly important territories where we have a full-time representative in Tokyo looking after our Japanese partners. We work with our partners to create and maintain a level of visual recognition across the whole range of our licensed product, combining the different, individual requirements of licensees into a coherent, consistent expression of the V&A’s own brand vision. The team identifies prospective licensees for the V&A brand, working with them to understand the needs of their markets and their synergy with the V&A.
